• I'm orginally from Canada but have been living in Korea since 2002.
• I work in HR, currently in learning & development with extensive previous experience in talent acquisition.
• I have advanced working-level proficiency in Korean.
• I started to learn Python at the tender age of 41 and found that I love programming.
• I've also dedicated a lot of time and effort to learning how to do data / statistical analysis using Python and found that I love data analytics too.
• I'm building my programming and data skills so I can apply them to the work I am doing now, and will continue to do in the future, in talent management and development.

I chose to create this site from scratch using the Flask framework, so I could learn a bit about web development in the process of setting it up. You can read about how I built it in this post.

In my posts on this site I intend to write mainly about two topics: HR and programming.

When I write about HR, I plan to share my views on concepts I encounter through my work and reading in this space. I've worked in both talent acquisition and learning & development so these are my main areas of interest, however I'm also interested in topics like corporate culture, DEI, remote work, and the future of work.

When I write about programming, my posts will document how I went about learning new skills. There are plenty of people out there with far more expertise than me that have produced excellent tutorials on how to use different programming tools, so I don't plan on trying to recreate any of that. Instead I hope to provide more of a learner's point of view with my posts by describing my learning process, providing links to the resources I used, and sharing the problems I encountered and how I eventually solved them.

Some of my posts will be only in English, and some both in English and Korean.

I hope what I share here will be insightful and helpful to others who have interests similar to mine.
